Meet Liz: Soul Guide, Energy Alchemist, and Founding Practitioner of Sondera House

At Sondera House, we believe that every journey toward self-discovery is unique, sacred, and worth celebrating. To help you explore your own path, we’re introducing you to the heart-led practitioners who guide our community — starting with someone incredibly close to home: my mum, Liz.

Liz is a Soul Guide and Energy Alchemist whose work has been helping people reconnect to their essence for decades. Through sound, breath, and energy weaving, she creates spaces where you can gently release what no longer serves you and remember the light of who you truly are. Her approach isn’t about fixing — it’s about remembering the wholeness already within you.

In this conversation, we dive into Liz’s personal journey, the wisdom she’s gained along the way, and her vision for helping others awaken their sacred spark. Whether you’re new to self-work or deepening your spiritual path, her insights offer guidance, clarity, and inspiration.

What first drew you to energy work, sound and breath?

This isn’t a one-off answer for me, because it continues to open and expand almost daily. I’ve been drawn to energy work for many years as it always felt naturally aligned, even before I had words for why. I simply felt guided, and it seemed like the next step on my path. I’ve always held the sense that if our circumstances can create imbalance or illness, then with awareness and change, we also hold the ability to heal.

My first doorway into energy work was through BodyTalk in early 2000, a system created by John Veltheim. From there, I kept following the thread, studying and exploring other modalities that deepened my understanding. Sound and breath then arrived in a very big way, through my own healing journey. They brought me into a deeper connection with myself and closer into alignment with the essence of who I truly am.

You spent 35 years as a nurse. How did that chapter influence the way you hold space today?

I’ve never really thought about it in this way before, but looking back I can see that being

drawn to nursing came from a deep desire to help others, the empath in me, and also the part

that wanted to fix. What I understand now is that this focus on fixing others often kept me

outside of myself, taking the attention away from what I truly needed within.

Spending so many years giving so much of myself to others, and to a system, while parts of my

own life were unravelling, eventually taught me an important lesson: I can’t give from an empty place. That realisation became the doorway into my deeper journey inward.

Now, instead of fixing, I create a safe, non-judgmental space where people can begin their own journey inward, to meet the parts of themselves that are ready to be seen, understood, and freed. That chapter of nursing, with all of its challenges and gifts, has shaped the way I hold space today with compassion, presence, and respect for each person’s own wisdom.

Can you share the moment or experience when you knew you were being called onto this path?

It wasn’t really one single moment for me. It felt more like a series of nudges over time. I’ve

always had a sense that there had to be ‘something more’ and, because I didn’t fit into the usual mould, I spent a lot of my life feeling misunderstood and searching for answers. In many ways I was on a spiritual journey long before I had language for it, but back then my idea of spirituality was still shaped by systems that asked us to give our power away.

Everything shifted in 2020. COVID was like a catalyst that shook me out of my slumber and

called me inward, back to my truth, my sovereignty, and my own deeper connection. That’s

when the journey really began in earnest, and it’s been quite a ride ever since.

For someone new to your work, how would you describe “sound, breath and energy weaving”?

It’s really about using sound, breath, and energy to bring you back into balance. The sound vibrations help shift what feels heavy or stuck, the breath reconnects you with your own life force, and the energy weaving is an intuitive way of clearing and re-aligning your field. Together they create a space where you can soften, release, and remember who you truly are.

What can someone expect during a session with you?

In a session with me, I weave together sound, breath, and energy to help bring their whole

being back into balance. The sound vibrations move through their body to shift what feels heavy or blocked, the breath reconnects with their own life force, and the energy weaving clears and realigns their energy field so they feel lighter and more present.

For those who are ready to go deeper, I also gently guide them to uncover the unconscious

roles, coping patterns, and old identities that might be keeping them small, stuck, or defined by others. Together in a 75-90 minute session, we begin to explore and release what no longer

serves, so they can begin to reconnect with their essence, reclaim their power, and remember

the wholeness that’s already within them. I have also created a 6 week offering in which we

begin with “The story loop” in week 1 and moving through to the “Remembering who you truly

are” in Week 6.

Every session is a little different, depending on what they are in need of in that moment or

where my intuition guides me. However, the intention is always to create a safe, nurturing

space for healing, clarity, and soul remembrance.

How do you create safe and nurturing spaces for people to soften and reconnect?

I create safe and nurturing spaces by slowing everything down, inviting people to breathe,

and holding them in a gentle, non-judgmental way. I use sound, breath, and energy practices to help them soften, feel supported, and reconnect with themselves at their own pace.

You often say your role is “not to fix, but to walk beside.” What does that mean to you in practice?

For me, it means I’m not here to ‘fix’ anyone, because I don’t believe people are broken. My role is to walk beside you, to support, guide, and hold space as you release what no longer serves and remember your own strength and wholeness. The healing comes from within you, and I’m there as a companion on that journey, doing my own inner work right alongside of you.

What is the biggest misconception people have about energy healing?

I think the biggest misconception is that energy healing is something ‘out there’ or that

I’m doing something to you. In truth, it’s very natural, it’s about creating the right

conditions for your own body and soul to release, realign, and heal. I don’t see myself as

the healer, I simply hold the space and use sound, breath, and energy to support your

system in remembering its own balance.

How do you see light and shadow working together in someone’s healing journey?

I see light and shadow as partners in healing. The shadow isn’t something to fear, it

holds the parts of ourselves we’ve hidden away. When we’re willing to gently look at and

embrace those parts, we reclaim our wholeness. The light helps us see with

compassion, and the shadow gives us the depth and wisdom we need to truly grow.

Together, they create balance.

Who do you feel most called to work with right now?

I feel most called to work with people who sense that something in their life no longer fits. That

what has been working for them up until now, is no longer aligning with them anymore and they are ready to create real change. Often this looks like moving beyond old patterns, beliefs, or identities that have kept them small or stuck. My work is for those who are truly ready to turn inward, to explore with compassion, and to begin the journey from feeling powerless into

remembering their strength and wholeness. It isn’t for everyone, but for those who feel the call, it can be a profound shift.

What transformations or shifts have you witnessed in your clients that have moved you the most?

Honestly, what moves me most is just seeing people come back to themselves. You can feel it

when something clicks for them—like they suddenly remember, ‘oh, it’s been here all along.’

Those are the moments that are really special to me.

What advice would you give someone who is sensing “the shift” but unsure where to start?

If you’re sensing the shift, start gently. Listen to the voice inside you rather than waiting for a big push. Begin with small practices that connect you back to yourself, like breath, stillness,

journaling, or sound. You don’t need to have it all figured out, the path reveals itself step by step. Trust that the desire for change is already the beginning of the journey, and allow yourself to be supported as you move forward.” Most of all, though, just Keep it simple and don’t over complicate it.

How do you stay grounded and nourished in your own energy while holding space for others?

I’ve learned that the more deeply I care for myself, the deeper the space I can hold for others.

For me that looks like simple things, being in nature, breathwork, sound, and giving myself

permission to rest. Before and after sessions I clear and ground my own field, so I’m offering from overflow rather than depletion. It’s an ongoing practice of returning to myself.

What daily ritual or practice has been the most supportive on your own path of remembrance?

It’s not one big practice, but small, consistent ones. Every day I make space to breathe, sit in

stillness, sound with my voice or bowls, and listen inwards. These little rituals anchor me and

keep me connected to the truth of who I am, especially when life gets busy or my mind gets loud.

If you could give your younger self one piece of guidance from where you are now, what would it be?

I’d tell her: you’re not broken and you don’t have to earn your worth. Trust your inner voice, even when it’s quiet. Everything you’re searching for is already inside you, let it unfold in its own time.

What excites you most about being a founding practitioner of Sondera House?

What excites me is being part of a community of authentic practitioners who are

coming together to create real change. Where we can support one another, share

our gifts, and offer people a place to find the healing and connection they’ve been

longing for in one place.

In one sentence, what do you hope someone takes away from working with you?

Quite simply, that they are not broken, that the answers they’ve been searching for are

already within them, and that it’s safe to come home to themselves.

How can people connect with you or begin their journey?

They can find me on my website: www.empoweringyourpurpose.com.au my FB page and
