Sound Healing Meets the Cosmos at Brisbane Planetarium

2 min read

For one night only, Light Castle Sound Healing is bringing an immersive sound experience to Brisbane Planetarium, combining live instruments with a journey through the stars.

There's something particularly intriguing about the idea of experiencing a sound bath beneath a sky full of stars. Not outdoors, but inside Brisbane's Planetarium, where galaxies, planets and celestial landscapes unfold across the dome overhead.

On Wednesday 14 October, Light Castle Sound Healing will bring its Galactic Symphony experience to Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium at Mount Coot-tha, inviting guests to explore the meeting point between sound, stillness and the cosmos.

The experience combines live sound healing with the Planetarium's immersive projections, creating an environment quite different from the traditional studio setting.

Where Sound Meets the Stars

As guests settle into the Planetarium's reclining seats, the dome above becomes a moving celestial landscape, with projections of stars, galaxies and planets accompanying a live sound journey.

The experience is led by a collective of five sound healers, using instruments including crystal singing bowls and gongs to create layers of sound throughout the space.

For those familiar with sound baths, the addition of the Planetarium's visual environment offers a different way to experience the practice. Rather than closing your eyes in a softly lit studio, you're invited to take in the changing imagery of the cosmos as the sounds unfold around you.

And for anyone who has been curious about sound healing but hasn't yet attended a session, it's certainly an interesting introduction.

An Invitation to Slow Down

Sound healing experiences often centre around creating space to rest, listen and turn attention inward. The combination of resonant instruments, a dedicated environment and time away from everyday distractions can offer an opportunity to pause.

With Galactic Symphony, Light Castle brings another sensory dimension into the experience, pairing sound with the scale and wonder of the universe.

There's something quite fitting about that combination. The vastness of space has a way of shifting our perspective, while sound practices invite us to pay closer attention to what we're experiencing in the present moment.

Together, they create an unusual setting for an evening of reflection and exploration.

Whether you're already familiar with sound healing or simply interested in trying something different, this is one of the more distinctive experiences appearing on Brisbane's wellbeing calendar this month.
