What Burnout Actually Felt Like: Leaving the High Life to Come Back to Myself

On paper, my career looked incredible.

I was working in high-end international events, organizing luxury experiences for ultra-high-net-worth clients. It sounded glamorous, it looked impressive to the outside world, and in many ways, it was an enjoyable path. But beneath the surface of the grand venues and high-profile gatherings, a quiet friction was growing.

As I went deeper into my own spiritual awakening, my perspective on the world began to shift entirely.

I started seeing through the noise. I realised how much of our society is built around the rat race, consumption, and the pursuit of status. I felt a deep, undeniable pull away from that ego-driven world and toward something far more meaningful: returning to love, creating with purpose, and actually helping people.

The work I was doing no longer aligned with who I was becoming. Yet, like so many of us, I kept pushing forward.

That was when my body stepped in and made the decision for me.

Burnout didn't arrive as a quiet thought. It arrived physically. My nervous system was in overdrive, signaling every single day that I was on the wrong path. It started with sudden panic attacks that left me breathless. Then my hair began falling out. My body was quite literally refusing to continue, communicating in ways I could no longer ignore.

I was extremely fortunate during that season. I was already on my spiritual journey, and I had my mum, Liz, standing by my side. Because of her and the work I had already explored, I knew where to turn. I reached out to kinesiology and bodytalk practitioners to help my body process the physical stress and release what was stored in my nervous system.

Having those resources and that guidance saved me. But as I went through the process, a heavy realisation hit me.

What if someone else went through this without that support?

Most people experiencing burnout or physical breakdown don't know where to look. They don't know that somatic therapies, kinesiology, or energy work exist, or how these practices can help them heal. They just know they are exhausted, struggling, and feeling like the system they built their life around is failing them.

More and more people are waking up to this reality every day. They are questioning the traditional path, questioning the structures around us, and realising that a job or lifestyle simply isn't serving their spirit anymore.

When you start to see through the matrix, it can feel deeply isolating if you're navigating it alone.

That is why Sondera House exists. It’s not about having all the answers or telling you what to believe. It’s about building a space filled with resources, practical guides, and a grounded community so that when your body, mind, or spirit tells you it’s time for a change, you have somewhere authentic to land and someone to help you navigate the way forward.
